Parking Lot Marking Types
Each type of parking lot marking serves a distinct purpose and is applied in a specific color. Here's every marking type 633 Asphalt installs, with internal links to dedicated pages for the specialized scopes.
Standard Stall Lines
The core marking of every parking lot
Yellow/White
The parallel lines that define individual parking stalls. Standard stalls are 8.5–9 feet wide with 4-inch painted lines, creating the backbone of your lot's capacity and organization. Stall angle (90°, 60°, or 45°) is designed to optimize traffic flow for your lot's shape.
ADA Accessible Stalls
The core marking of every parking lot
Blue/White
Accessible parking stalls with specific minimum dimensions, access aisle widths, ISA symbol placement, and required signage. Per ADA.gov's Compliance Brief on Restriping, accessible stalls must be provided any time a lot is re-striped.
Fire Lane Markings
Fire code regulated — red curb & NO PARKING
Red
Red-painted curbs, "FIRE LANE — NO PARKING" stencil markings, and designated fire apparatus access zones required by Oklahoma fire code. Fire lane location, width, and marking requirements are governed by the local fire marshal and the International Fire Code.
Directional Arrows
Traffic flow management
White
Single and double-headed directional arrows stenciled into drive aisles to indicate traffic flow direction. Properly placed arrows prevent head-on conflicts in narrow aisles, reduce pedestrian-vehicle conflicts, and are required in one-way traffic lanes. Standard arrow size is 4 feet long.
Crosswalks
Pedestrian safety paths
White
Parallel striped pedestrian crossing zones that delineate safe walking paths across drive aisles. Crosswalks at building entrances, end-of-row drive aisle crossings, and connections to sidewalks reduce pedestrian accident exposure and are expected by both customers and code inspectors.
No-Parking & Restricted Zones
Curb and pavement restrictions
Yellow
Yellow-painted curbs and "NO PARKING" stencils for areas that must remain clear of vehicles — loading docks, building entries, utility access points, and drive-through clearance zones. Yellow curb markings are universally understood as restricted parking zones.
