Partial-depth repair removes only the deteriorated surface layer (1.5–3 inches) while leaving the structural lower slab intact. It's appropriate when damage is confined to the upper portion and the base is sound. Full-depth repair removes the entire slab thickness down to the sub-base — required when cracks extend through the slab, when there is faulting between panels, or when the base has failed.
